Nitin Sawhney live in London with es Devlin

Shame I came across this so late - honestly worth getting on a plane and flying to London for, even though the Festival is running for just a couple days...

Onedotzero, the premier purveyors of experimental/contemporary video shorts via DVD, have organized an amazing lineup of artists as part of their Adventures in Motion Festival held in the South End of London.  It kicks off tomorrow and has a full schedule until Sunday night - with commissioned collaborative pieces, installations, screenings etc...

One of these wonderful Festival components is a show by Nitin Sawhney that is sure to please; remixed/alt versions of his new London Undersound album performed with the aesthetic magic of Es Devlin - a designer who's done gorgeously innovative stage sets and costumes for artists as varied as Kanye West and the Royal Shakespeare Company!

Please, if you're in London, be sure to check out the show on Friday and if you can, be sure to catch as much of Adventures in Motion as you can :)

Improved IE member profiles - with photos, videos, audio and more!

For over a year musicians and fans of the music we promote and produce have been able to come to our website and become members - which let them fill out profiles with blurbs about themselves and upload an avatar image.

Today we're taking a giant leap forward in supporting our community around music; registered site members can now fill out detailed profiles as before, but also add 5 audio tracks, videos and photos!

In addition to media uploads, you can also review albums and shows as well as post event listings to indianelectronica.com if you're a logged in member of the site.  Pop over to my Abdul Smooth profile to see what I'm talking about - uploading is easy and as soon as you've posted something to the site, it'll show up directly on your profile.

Membership is free - if you're not already registered, do so today and start uploading!!

Nitin Sawhney's Electric Proms Blog

For quite some time I've been marveling at the BBC's blase use of blogging across its web properties - in a very push-media way, they seem to have implemented blogging software a few years back with no large-scale plan for sparking conversation through BBC blogs and not much for-sight in judging the usefulness for connecting media personalities and their broadcasters with existing and potential audiences...

Examples include the Asian Network's blog, which initially was posted to by a few DJs who had shows on the channel, which was a great idea I would think as hosts could keep their audiences in the know when they were off air/between shows.  It turns out that posts were so sporadic that the communal blog got replaced with a dedicated one posted to by Bobby Friction, who does a great job in using it to speak to people - with posts ranging from lists of tunes he's digging to youtube videos he's uploaded chronicalling travels, show guests and more...  more »

Nerm & D-code bring it again, on BBC Radio1

'In New DJs We Trust' airs on the beeb once a week - Thursday nights/Friday mornings and its a heavy dose of fresh beats from 4 sets of DJs; my pals Nerm and D-Code (from the Shiva Soundsystem) drop sweet dnb wax once a month in this rotation and they've got a great show this week.

You can catch the broadcast on-demand from their BBC Radio1 showpage - the current show has a tete-a-tete or rather, deck-a-deck between UK dn more »

IE Radio back online

Great news: after the data center which used to house our radio server had a fire last week, I decided to role up my sleeves and setup our very own server just to stream Indian Electronica Radio!

The stream's back up and at a new location - you can update your bookmarks from the links on our radio page.

We're still loading some more music into timeslots and programming shows so for the next couple of weeks you can enjoy a randomly mixed assortment of (mainly downtempo) tunes!

Radio stream offline

Quick note: Our radio stream is currently offline - apparently there was some funky power issue in the data centre our server is in.

We expect Indian Electronica Radio to be back online in the next day or so - will post again when this is the case!

Sub Swara's 3 year anniversary!

I can't believe its been just about 3 years since my friend Dhruva from San Fran's Dhamaal Collective met up with Sunder, Haji and everyone else to found Sub Swara in NYC.  The gigs have been happening regularly in that time and hosted a wide array of first-class guest performers, all showcasing progressive takes on dancefloor culture.

You can catch their anniversary party on October 3 - here's some info from their site (http://subswara.com/):
