“Delhi 2 Dublin is the perfect mix of bhangra(ic)-celtic synchronicity, it only happens once and you are hearing it”
~ Cheb i Sabbah
Delhi 2 Dublin is the new sound of music! Blending east and west, electronic and acoustic, mainstream and underground, the five member D2D crew takes listeners on a wild and borderless trip through global sounds and synchronicities. The band fuses the traditional sounds of tabla, dhol, fiddle, and sitar with cutting edge DJ aesthetics, to create a highly charged multi-cultural dance celebration.
Originally formed for a one-shot performance during Vancouver's Celtic Fest in March of 2006, word of their foot stomping, high energy live set started to spread, and the project soon took on a life of it's own. Recently, D2D were invited to open the massive Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill in Ottawa where they collaborated with Irish and Indian dancers and the National Circus School. They have since played many of the West Coast Canadian festivals and are poised to take the act to a global level.
Produced by global fusion pioneer Adham Shaikh (Sonic Turtle Studios), their self-titled debut CD has received steady airplay nationwide on the CBC and RJ1200 in Vancouver and has been played recently on BBC's Bobby Friction and Nihal as well as on Pathaan's Musical Rickshaw. Influenced by the likes of Afro-Celt Soundsystem, Transglobal Underground and Cheb I Sabbah, the result is an intoxicationg and contagious electro-acoustic Celtic-Punjabi fusion with touches of reggae, break-beat, drum ‘n bass, and hip hop.

------------
Shivaboom is the third chapter in the still-unfolding, cross-cultural story of Canadian sonic sculptor Eccodek (aka Andrew McPherson ). Increasingly recognized for his lush, aural panoramas steeped in dubwise bass, driving grooves and soaring melodies, Eccodek has become a potent and sought-after voice on the global dub scene, joining the rarefied ranks of such musical alchemists as Cheb i Sabbah and Gaudi. Shivaboom’s nine tracks reflect the newest facet of Eccodek’s musical persona: the DJ (the album borrows its title from the name of Eccodek’s monthly DJ residency in his Guelph, Ontario, home). As a multi-instrumentalist McPherson remains deeply committed to the organic process of writing and collaborating with fellow artists, but in his new guise as DJ he keeps a careful eye on the dance floor, where the proper combination of electronica and global sounds can move the room in powerful new ways.
Bringing Eccodek’s potent brew of bone-rattling bass, hypnotic grooves and soaring, exotic melodies to life on Shivaboom are Mali’s Mansa Sissoko and Jah Youssouf, who also provide stunning instrumental support on kora and ngoni; the seductive and beguiling voices of Juno Award-winning ghazal singer Kiran Ahluwalia and Turkish songstress Meral Mert ; and the mesmerizing talent of Indo/Canadian classical singer Onkar Singh .
